Delivering Logistical Solutions to London 5* Luxury Development
Posted on 27-08-2020
Kernow were proud to be involved in supplying this prestigious 43-storey tower situated right in the heart of London. With a floor space of 580,000 sq. ft, this is London’s first Pan Pacific Hotel and provides 5-star wellness, meeting & events spaces and a 380-seat double height ballroom/conference facility. 1 – 3 bedroom private residences also occupy the upper levels of the main tower building.
The building’s impressive stature steps as it rises with the bronze patinated brise-soleil acting as a textural screening device. Complimented by landscaping and retail, restaurants and cafes within a renovated Devonshire Row, the new Bishopsgate Plaza will become a vibrant heart in the city.
Kernow Fixings’ Involvement & Support
Kernow were supplying one of the main and national M&E contractors on this project. Our Account Managers worked very closely with the Contracts Managers to ensure orders were on site, booked in and ready for the contractor to commence works straight away. Kernow were on hand providing regular site visits with the main contractor and the sub-contractors to understand and deliver on the unique requirements for this project.
What Support Did Kernow Provide?
Kernow supported this project in a variety of ways including the special packing of goods which were labelled up for each floor and area. Items were carefully packaged and wrapped so they could be lifted up to the relevant floor safely and securely. Due to the difficult site access, deliveries had to adhere to strict time windows, as well as other orders having to be delivered to a Consolidation Centre when required, again using specific time-slots etc.
Challenges
This site is in the centre of London and with this came plenty of logistical challenges which we were easily able to accommodate, especially since setting up our London distribution arm initiative. We worked closely together with those on-site to adhere to the specific logistical needs and ensure there were no issues.
Kernow managed to provide a smooth supply at the right time, to the exact destination on-site which assisted the contractor with efficient operations and helped enable them to achieve their project deadlines.
Overall the contractor was very pleased with the progress, despite it being an extremely challenging site to deliver to.
